Okay, I chose the title to somehow justify what I am blogging about today. It has totally nothing to do with what you are about to read. Just how in the world could a technology blogger write about a singing contest?
But that is precisely what I am writing about today - "Britain's Got Talent", a UK version of American Idol. I would guess that the contest mechanics is the same as its US counterpart with Simon Cowell even acting as one of the 3 judges.
Watching CNN late yesterday, I happened to watch a segment about a British cell phone salesman who has such an amazing talent singing opera. As I managed to only catch a glimpse of the CNN news with the male anchor talking about being teary eyed and all, I searched You tube for the name Paul Potts.
After watching the video clip, I said to myself that I just have to blog about it. To provide a teaser for those who have not seen it yet, as I know millions already have, let me quote what the judges had to say after Paul's outstanding performance:
"Our shared vision in this competition is finding somebody who is doing an ordinary job, very unassuming who quietly had an amazing talent, and to provide them with the platform to just show the world what they could do. And, you are that guy."
"You are a little lump of coal that will turn into a diamond."
Simon Cowell says, "It was Magic."
Enough said. I will not spoil your experience. Just be sure that you have your volume high enough to appreciate the videos better.
